FIRST OF ALL, DECIDE ON YOUR SCOTLAND ELOPEMENT DATE

THE BEST SEASON AND TIME TO ELOPE IN SCOTLAND

The best months to elope in Scotland are from October to May, but the Scottish Highlands and Isles will be magical all year round, whatever the weather is.

Spring months (March, April and May)

The weather starts to warm up during Spring time, with average temperatures from 7-15°C (45-59°F) and in May can be 20°C+. The days begin to get longer, and you can expect the landscape to start getting green.

Summer months (June, July and August)

Summer is the most popular and busiest time in Scotland. The days are warm and long - in June, we have 17-18 hours of daylight. These three months are the warmest in Scotland, with average temperatures from 16-20°C (61-68°F); however, mainly in August can be 25°C+.

The Scottish Highlands bloom in a million tones of green, but the light -the most crucial element in photography- is harsh during the day. That is why I highly recommend the "Golden Hours" at sunrise and sunset, which can be very early and late for your relaxed elopement or photo session with beautiful summer lights.

Please keep in mind, the summer months are the peak tourist season. Many areas of the Scottish Highlands - like Glen Coe and the famous spots of the Isle of Skye - are overwhelming, and hard to avoid the horde of tourists. :) The tourist season is at its peak, and it is also harder to book your accommodation.

Autumn months (September, October and November)

The weather starts to cool down in autumn, with average temperatures ranging from 8-14°C (46-57°F). September can be the warmest in the fall, with 18-20°C (64-68°F). This is the most colourful time in Scotland as the vegetation changes colour, creating a beautiful autumnal landscape with a mainly brown and golden colour scheme. The autumn light is rich, warm and golden-toned, especially around sunrise and sunset.

Winter months (December, January and February)

Winter is the coldest and my favourite season in Scotland, with the average temperature usually around -2-5°C (28-41°F) and the most precipitation in the year - with snow in the higher grounds and peaks of the Scottish Highlands. Usually, on the West Coast of Scotland and the Islands like the Isle of Skye winters are very windy - that I love as the wind creates great floating dress images. Also, the winter days are shorter - we have only 6-8 hours of beautiful soft daylight in the Scottish Highlands.

CHOOSE YOUR SCOTLAND ELOPEMENT LOCATION AND CEREMONY SPOT

THE MOST POPULAR & BEAUTIFUL ELOPEMENT LOCATIONS OF SCOTLAND:

  • The Isle of Skye is the most popular location in Scotland for elopements nowadays with its rugged landscapes.

  • Glen Coe With its historical and dramatic scenery, Glen Coe has so many spots to take breathtaking photos. The busy road through Glen Coe takes you to cross the heart of an ancient volcano. Glen Coe is one of the most beautiful and other-worldly places in Scotland. It's even featured in films such as James Bond's Skyfall, The Outlander TV series, and several Harry Potter movies.

  • The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, with its forests, lochs and rivers, is the perfect autumnal elopement location only an hour drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Cairngorms National Park, with its beautiful ancient pine forests between calm lochs and mountains

  • Torridon in Wester Ross, North-West of Scotland - the perfect location for the most remote and intimate elopement

  • Assynt in Sutherland on the North-West of Scotland. Ideal location for the most adventurous couples to elope anytime in the year

  • The Outer Hebrides The Isle of Harris is a different word with endless white beaches, turquoise waters and dramatic mountains.

DECIDE WHAT ACTIVITIES YOU WANT TO ENJOY ON YOUR ELOPEMENT DAY IN SCOTLAND

When eloping in Scotland, you do not have to make compromises. There is no pressure on you as you can enjoy each other and do whatever you love most on your elopement day. Hiking, walking on the shore, fishing & wandering in the wilderness, wild swimming, watching the sunrise or sunset - anything you like - whatever makes you happy and what Scotland can offer.

FIND AND BOOK YOUR SCOTLAND ELOPEMENT VENDORS

When planning your elopement, you will be surprised how fewer vendors require your elopement day.

I can help you with local vendor recommendations of the best ones in your elopement location. Contact and book your elopement vendors like a celebrant, hairdresser, make-up artist, florist, videographer and/or elopement photographer. Check my elopement packages here.

The essential vendor that you officially need is a celebrant. In Scotland, this can be either a religious or a belief celebrant. I recommend finding your perfect humanist on the following websites - Humanist Association Scotland - Humanist Society Scotland

ENJOY YOUR SCOTLAND ELOPEMENT EXPERIENCE

After the planning stage when eloping in Scotland, enjoy every minute of your elopement experience - whatever the weather - and love each other more than ever.
