Stormy Isle of Skye elopement - Elgol, Scotland

Half day romantic elopement in Elgol - Isle of Skye

Kerry and Dave`s story is a prime example to how to plan a stress free Isle of Skye elopement in only a short period of time instead a traditional expensive wedding

“Thank you so much for the photos, we really could not be happier with them, you really captured the day and the dramatic scenery of the island perfectly. anyone we have shared the photos with have all commented on how amazing they are, we really feel so glad we chose you as our photographer!”

Kerry and Dave from Devon, UK - send their enquire sometime in April about their Isle of Skye elopement in September. They were hoping to have their elopement in September including an intimate, covid friendly ceremony outside with a humanist celebrant, but they were still unsure of the location.

After a few short conversations and planning they decided to choose Loch Curisk as the location of the ceremony, but unfortunately (or fortunately) the mother nature had different plans for the day and our boat cruise was canceled at the morning. So we went to plan B and held the ceremony on the shore in Elgol. Ohh gosh and what a day it was. Nature`s elements - Air and Water- were raging all day long. Kerry and Dave defied that - embraced the weather and they eloped on the south of Isle of Skye.

“Working with Laszlo could not be easier, he has such a relaxed yet professional manner that helps to put you at ease at all stages, whether discussing and planning or on the day shooting. His knowledge and expertise as well as fantastic eye for the perfect shot will guarantee you will be happy with the results. We had a last minute change of location and a real mixed bag of weather on the day of our elopement but Laszlo helped to make it a stress free fun filled day. We ended up doing a whistle stop tour of some of the Isle of Skye to get a number of fantastic backdrops for our shots, Laszlo led the way and always knew the perfect spot to frame us in the dramatic landscapes. We are so glad we chose to work with Laszlo and are over the moon with all of our photos."

Tell us a bit about you.

“We were actually at secondary school together although had virtually no interaction back then. After running into each other on a few nights out in our late teens we started to develop a lasting friendship and would meet for surfing, adventures etc. We lived in different cities and even countries for much of our twenties but although we weren't always in the same places at the same time, we would always stay in touch. It wasn't until Kerry returned from living in Australia for some time that we met to catch up and the friendship developed into a relationship with both of us realising we had felt the same way about each other for years but never declared it.”

How did you find your elopement photographer?

“We first spotted Weirdy Grizzly's work on a wefellinlove.co.uk blog post and then stumbled upon some more as we continued our research/planning. After checking out his website and having a brief email chat we were certain he was the right choice for us.”

How did you choose your elopement and shooting location?

“We knew we wanted to Elope on the Isle of Skye and had the idea of Loch Coruisk but Laszlo helped us cement this as the right choice for us. Unfortunately the weather had other ideas and we were unable to sail to the Loch so had to make a plan B on the day. Guided by Laszlo we chose to have our ceremony on Elgol beach then take an excursion to a number of beauty spots (you are spoilt for choice on Skye!) to capture a bit of a variety of all the island has to offer.”

What was the inspiration behind your elopement in Scotland?

“Having visited the Isle of Skye just before solidifying our decision to elope it seemed the obvious choice of location. As we were eloping we wanted to capture our day more as a love story of adventure than a collection of photos of us and our on the day change of plans worked in our favour to make this a reality.”

What was your favourite moment from the day?

“Aside from meeting Laszlo in person and instantly feeling relaxed and at ease, walking over the rocks together at Elgol beach after our ceremony to capture us with the Cuillin Mountains over the water really set the tone for the rest of our adventure together.”

Do you have any advice for other eloping couples?

“Have an open mind and perhaps a plan B when going for an adventure shoot but also don't be put off by weather, embrace it and you will be rewarded with some seriously dramatic shots!”
